Supervision of Key Workers' Children

23rd Mar 2020

Dear Parents,

I am writing regarding guidance that was published by the Department of Education on Friday 20th March in relation to schools providing 'Care Arrangements for the children of Key Workers'

The Minister of Education Peter Weir stated 'Schools should only open to children of key workers to facilitate them getting to work to fight the virus BUT ONLY when there is no other viable option.

I would stress that the best place for all children is at home, but if no other option is a available to you then Darkley P.S. will support the fight against Covid-19.

PROVISION:

I will aim to use our hall that facilitates a 2 metre-apart set up.

Parents should send in all materials needed eg colouring materials and pencils etc to be used by their child only.

Children will wash hands each time they leave an area and enter another.

Parents should send snacks and a packed lunch. We have no guidance on dinner provision and there is no transport.

We aim to open as soon as possible, as yet we have not the adequate equipment needed including sanitisers, gloves and masks.

We may have to work with other schools to facilitate a limited number of spaces.

If you are a Key Worker and need a place  please complete the surveymonkey online link sent via our school text message today or click the link below. Please respond today before 3pm so I can gauge what we as a school can offer.

Thank you for your support at this difficult time.
