What a day our P6 & P7 swimmers had at the Apple Blossom Gala in Armagh!
Every single Darkley swimmer gave it their all in the heats, and we couldn’t be prouder. It was fantastic to see such a great team spirit too, with teammates cheering each other on from the poolside, celebrating every race and encouraging every swimmer.
We were thrilled to make it through to FIVE finals - Backstroke, Breaststroke, Front Crawl, Boys’ P6 relay and Girls’ P6 relay. Unfortunately, the medals weren’t all falling our way today, although four of our finalists came agonisingly close, just missing out on a podium finish. Sadly, that’s sport for you.
A special shoutout goes to Cara Mackin, who swam a brilliant race in the backstroke final and DID come home with a well-deserved silver medal 🥈👏
Well done to all our swimmers. You represented the school brilliantly, showed great sportsmanship, and should be very proud of yourselves. The medals will come but the team spirit, effort and determination on display today were worth their weight in gold!
