P7 Culture Workshop on China

20th May 2013
P7 Culture Workshop on China
In preparation for the P7's World Cup Soccer Fun Day in the Palace Stables, the children completed a morning workshop delivered by ArtsEkta, a Belfast based cultural organisation that work within communities promoting ethnic minority awareness through art based programmes. During the session, P7 pupils met Wei Hong from China who talked to the children about the many traditions and rich culture that exist in China. She performed traditional dances and pupils were eager to participate and dance as well. Pupils also met Konrad Pawleszek from Poland who added to the session with dance choreography, preparing The pupils for their parade through Armagh City on the 14th of June for the Fun World Cup. He spoke to the children about the many cultures that exist and he opened the pupils mindset to thinking more broadly about how we think about others around the world. It was a very enjoyable workshop and now the P7 pupils will plan and prepare for the parade by designing t-shirts, banners, flags and artwork based on their new knowledge of China.
